Hello, Kitty Birthday!

When I was little I spent 3 years in Misawa, Japan. I grew up there when Hello, Kitty was a brand new character and just starting to get popular in Japan. So I have a special place in my heart for Hello, Kitty. I was excited to make these Hello, Kitty cupcakes for a co-workers niece, Kendall. It was her 4th birthday! I made a giant cupcake for her family party and made a dozen regular cupcakes for Kendall to bring to her class. Hot Pink is one of my favorite frosting colors!

Giant Cupcake Cake, this was for their family party!

Regular size cupcakes, for her class celebration.

Hello, Kitty was made of white chocolate!

Happy 4th Birthday to Kendall!

Make a wish! Blow out all the candles!

The giant cupcake is perfect for a small personal cake, and a great idea is to bring in cupcakes for classmates to celebrate!

C is for Carter... and Cupcake!

G is for Giraffe, M is for Monkey and C is for Carter's Cupcake! My friend Melissa's little boy, Carter turned One this year on July 16th. There was a party in the park and a giant cupcake to dig into. Lots of blue icing, a chocolate giraffe, and one giant fun-fetti cake later and Carter had a party in style!

This Giant Cupcake is about the size of a small cake!

The giraffe matched the party theme, and was made out of white chocolate.

Hmm... I think I'll take this first. He picked this up, set it down, then thought about it and picked it back up to eat it.

Stuck both hands in to get the full 1st birthday experience!

He's so super cute, even caked in cupcake!

Well done! I think he did a very good job for how big it was. Happy 1st Birthday Carter Whitfield! I love you, little man!

Happy Graduation!

My younger brother Michael graduated from High School this May. He's all grown up and will be attending OSU for pre-veternarian at the end of this month. What a perfect reason to make cupcakes, right? With the help of my mom and youngest sister Kirsten we made cupcakes with his High School colors, black and yellow, with diplomas on top for his party. We had the party at the Newport Hofbrauhaus, my family's favorite German restaurant.

Each cupcake was covered in sand-sugar for color, and the diplomas were made of caramel, hand cut and rolled by Kirsten. Tied with a little red-licorice rope.

Katrina, one of my other sisters, decided to join the cupcake making and make some with OSU colors on them. Unfotunately, the cupcakes suffered in the car ride and the icing was coming off. But, I think they were still good!

Everyone loved the cupcakes! We had white cake, chocolate truffle, and some chocolate with jam inside.

We had a very good party. I would argue the cupcakes were the best part, but I'm sure my husband, Noah, would argue the German Beer was. Cupcakes and Beer, they go so well together!

"Rubber Duckie, you're the one..."

Rubber Ducks have really made a come back in recent years. There are some with all different colors, and some that even light up! When I think of a rubber duck, I instantly think of bath time and Ernie from Sesame Street. These rubber duckies are from the front cover of Karen Tack and Alan Richardson's book What's New, Cupcake. I think Ernie would be ..."awfully fond" of them if he could see them!

These are perfect for a baby shower of any gender! The "butt's up" duck is my favorite!

Here they are in my freezer trying not to melt in the hot heat of the kitchen! I even used rubber duckie paper liners.

In tribute to the original Rubber Duckie lover here is the youtube link for the Rubber Duckie song from Sesame Street!

Rubber Duckie I'm awfully fond of you, Rubber Duckie you taste so good too!

Chinese Take-Out...give me good fortunes!

My friend Sarah from work is what I consider the "Take-Out Queen". She orders out or buys from the cafeteria almost every night. So for her birthday, I decided to make cupcakes for work that suited her best. These cupcakes were so much fun to make, and everyone enjoyed them! Thank you What's New, Cupcake for your Chinese Take Out Cucakes with Fortune Cookie Cucpakes! They were a hit!

I placed the cupcakes in brown Take-Out boxes, for a little authenticity. I think it suited them well.

Everyone was curious about how I made the broccoli. It looked so real!

The pork, scallions and broccoli were all made of candy. The perfect Lo-Mein for a vegetarian! Each fortune cookie I made, had a real hand-written fortune inside! Hopefully everyone liked there fortunes and will come back for more!

Here's a fortune to leave you with today!

German Chocolate Cupcakes?

We are weeks away from our 2nd Europe Trip. We are going back to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Munich Oktoberfest! We will be also visiting Salzburg and Vienna, Austria; Prague, Czech Republic and Berlin, Germany. I wanted to share these pictures from our last Germany trip in preparation for our 2010 trip!

Noah's first bier in Frankfurt, Germany.

Noah and I on the bridge in front of the Heidelberg Castle.

We found this large nutcracker in the Christmas store, Kathe Wohlfahrt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Germany! A German baker holding cupcakes, my guess would be German Chocolate Cupcakes!

Outside a bier tent at the 2009 Oktoberfest with our new German and Russian friends! Prost!

Noah and I enjoying the original Hofbrauhaus in Munich, Germany!

I wonder if I can find something with a cupcake this year too, we'll see!

Love + Cupcakes = Happiness

Two years ago I married my best friend! Our wedding was a wonderful beginning to our Fairytale story! Along the path of wedding events, cupcakes pop up everywhere.

Here are a few of those moments that I would like to share:

My mom surprised me at my family shower with mini cupcakes that were the same as the ones that would be served at our reception. The added figurine to the top was the best feature I think!

  (Gretchen, Katrina, Me, and Kirsten)

My sisters and I eating the cupcakes, before the guests arrive! We couldn't resist.

This is our awesome wedding party, outside of the reception hall having a good time! hmmm... I wonder how much Champagne we actually drank in that limo!

A view from the top! Three different kinds of cupcakes for the guests. Peanut butter, Chocolate w/ Raspberry filling, and White w/ Strawberry filling. Our baker was Erica Ohmit from Every Last Crumb. We were so happy with her work! If your interested,  here is the website: http://www.everylastcrumb.com/index.html

They were delicious and beautiful!

Noah and I had a beautiful wedding, thanks to all the support from our friends and family!
