Birthday Decorating Fun!

Happy 12th Birthday Sohini! This month Sohini turned 12 and I was happy to help her celebrate!

I was privileged to be ask to come to her birthday party and teach her and her friends how to decorate cupcakes. I thought it would be great fun and a great opportunity to spread the cupcaking love. So I went to this 'girls only' party and taught 8 rambunctious girls how to decorate cupcakes.

First I talked to them about their feelings on fondant. There was a unanimous agreement that fondant is gross and should be avoided! These girls learn fast. They frosted two cupcakes each, and the first one we decorated into a flower. What better way to make a flower than with marshmallows and sprinkles!

The girls were extremely creative and made some fantastic flowers, that were spring worthy!

Here's the Birthday Girl's beautiful spring flowers!

Some girls mixed it up. They used big marshmallows and little ones!

Our next cupcake was an Easter Bunny! Who doesn't love a cute little bunny with a sweet frosting face and fluffy marshmallow ears?

This was the most talkative group of girls I have ever met!

Well apparently Josie likes her bunnies scary. Hers was slightly mutilated.

But at least the rest of the girls like the cute kind.

Sohini might have a future in the cupcake decorating business.

They were extremely creative, and started making some baby bunnies as well.

These girls learn fast!

Overall, the girls were a lot of fun! We had a great time decorating cupcakes, eating sprinkles and licking up frosting!

Hope this is a Birthday Sohini will never forget!

Pretty in Pink and Oh-So Cupcake Sweet!

It's been awhile since I've blogged, so I figured I would start with a post about baby girls.... what's better than that?

My cousin Charlie Ann is expecting her first child in April. This little girl is going to be cover in pink from head-to-toe! We had a very girlie baby shower for her this February that coinsided with Valentine's Day. So naturally I made pink heart cupcakes and a little extra surprise.

Usually everyone gets a diaper cake at their shower. So since I only do cupcakes, I thought it would be good to roll up some onesies and things in the shape of a cupcake. Then wrap it in tissue paper, to make it look like one!

Take a look at our girlie fun and pink party!

Pink bows, and bibs....

Flowers and books...

White Chocolate hearts with extra Pink Frosting!

Pink Frosting is the best frosting!!

Here's Charlie Ann's Onesie Cupcake I made for her!

There is even a cherry on top!

Charlie loved it! She unwrapped it to find: onesies in all sizes and colors, socks, formula container and binkies!

This Disney Princess claw-footed baby tub is probably the most amazing thing I have ever seen!! Little Rylee will have to thank Aunt Amy for this gift!

All the Girl Cousins!

We all can't wait to meet baby Rylee! We wish Charlie Ann good luck!

"Take a sprinkling of fairy dust, an angel's single feather, also a dash of love and care. Then mix them both together. Add a sentiment or two,
a thoughtful wish or line, a touch of stardust, a ray of sunshine... Its a recipe, for a Baby Girl truly fine."

Surprise 60th Roast!

My co-worker Emily's father aka Jimbo turned 60 this year! To help him celebrate she and her family threw him a surprise party, and I provided the cupcakes. Not only was it a surprise but a comedy roast. The guests came prepared to make jokes, tell stories and many other things all about him.

Here's a look at some themed birthday cupcakes and party activities!

A combination of cupcakes: baseballs, Cincinnati Breeze's Softball  Team Logo, and the Logo for the Loveland High School Tigers.

The guest of honor....Jimbo!

Crustacean Christmas

Who needs Christmas lights, tinsel and candy canes? When you can have the French Quarter, Seafood and the Bayou! My friend Vicky and her family celebrate a different type of Christmas each year. They choose a country or part of the world they would like to learn about and celebrate their Christmas with those customs including decorations, food and information about each place. What a wonderfully different and interesting way to celebrate with the family!

This year was all about New Orleans and having a Creole Christmas. So she came to me and asked about doing cupcakes that would correspond to the theme. I said, How about a large lobster made of cupcakes? She thought it was perfect, so then Larry the Lobster came to life. Take a look at Larry the Lobster!

He just looks like he's hanging out catching some winter sun....

Isn't he just adorable!

I am so glad Vicky liked him!

Larry the Lobster came from Karen Tack and Alan Richardson's amazing cupcake book, What's New Cupcake! I don't know what I would do without their genius!

So if your in need of something from The Bayou or a centerpiece for a Summer Party, let me know! I'm sure Larry would love to make an appearance!

Cupcake Yuletide

Hope the holidays were happy for everyone! This Christmas season was full of cupcakes at my house. Aside from my Cupcake Christmas Tree, many people decided to have cupcakes for the holidays. I made a Lobster for a friend's Creole Christmas and two plates of Spaghetti Cupcakes for another friend's Christmas Italia. Not traditional Christmas cupcakes but just as fun!

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and this one was full of hand-made gifts. Sneak a peek at my family Christmas and take a look at my Cupcake Christmas!

My favorite cupcake apron, made by my Aunt Rosemary. It's Christmas cupcakes and green sparkles!
